Only two more concerts to enjoy this season but our 2017-18 season is waiting in the wings.
We will be saying 'welcome back' to several musicians. Magadalena Loth-Hill returns, this time with Consone Quartet playing on period instruments. Magda first played for us in April 2014 with pianist Simon Lane.
Also returning are Christopher Underwood (baritone) and Michael Hancock (piano). In their last concert for us they sang Schubert's Winterreise. The reviewer commented: 'This was an extraordinary evening of music making which would have graced any major venue in the world, and the Carlisle audience received it with enthusiasm and gratitude.'
Alena Lugovkina (flute) and Niklas Walentin (violin) played for us in January 2016, when, together with pianist Pavel Timofeyevsky, they thrilled the audience. On this occasion the pianist will be Viv McLean.
We have two solo pianists in our next season's programme, at different points in their careers. Ashley Fripp is a well-established international musician, while local girl Leah Nicholson is currently studying at Chetham's School of Music.
Philip Attard may be our very first saxophonist but without a trawl through past programmes we can't be absolutely sure. Philip is a Gozitan, a native of the island of Gozo. He will perform for us with Maltese pianist Christine Zerafa. We are grateful to the Countess of Munster Musical Trust for supporting this concert.
Individual programme details will appear on the 2017-2018 page of the website as soon as they are available.
